My large painting features the the historic 1756 Nassau Hall on the campus of Princeton University. Autumn in Princeton is a favorite time for me to stroll the campus or town as the leaves turn and fall to the ground before the beauty of Winter takes over. I was honored to create this original 24 x 36 painting, acrylic on canvas in 2018 as a commissioned painting for Princeton University students to give as a wedding for an alumni. A RAINY NIGHT IN PRINCETON by artist Robert Hummel

This painting by artist Robert Hummel created in 2017 features the former restaurant Lahiere's and the current Hamilton Jewelers tudor building on the corner of Nassau street and Witherspoon Street.
Robert is known for his paintings of Princeton and the towns beyond. He has shown at Princeton University, Chez Alice Cafe and Gourmet Bakery on Palmer Square for over 15 years up an through 2019, The Nassau Club of Princeton, Gallery 33 in Hightstown, and many other solo and group exhibits including many local fundraising events for schools and charities. The Hindenburg was seen flying over Princeton University on May 6th 1937 before it arrived in Lakehust N.J. For the 80th anniversary of the Hindenburg disaster on May 6th 2017 artist Robert Hummel unveiled his painting called "The Last Look over Pyne Hall"

Each winter the University campus is transformed into a fairy tale scene as freshly fallen snow covers its many Gothic buildings and landscaped vistas. 

There is nothing like an evening stroll after a snowfall on campus or around town that puts a warm spot in our hearts from the glow of lamp posts or the warmth from within its many incredible facades.

WINTER IN PRINCETON IS INDEED A MAGICAL TIME OF YEAR.

My painting of Princeton's Chapel after a perfect snowfall is one of several Gothic structures that I am inspired to paint.

About this impressive ornate building at Princeton University.

East Pyne, is home to Princeton scholars engaged in studies of classics, comparative literature and languages.

Originally called Pyne Library, the collegiate Gothic building was constructed in 1897 and was used with Chancellor Green as the University Library until the completion of Firestone Library in 1948. It then housed various administrative offices until 1965, when, with the completion of New South, it assumed its present name and was renovated to accommodate offices and classrooms.

By chance I was walking past Laheire the night it was closing its doors for the last time after so many years. I witnessed many coming out and hugging staff at the door with many tears flowing. When asking it was explained that they had been dining there for many years and will no longer as they were closing. This went on for some time and when returning to may studio, I was inspired to create what I called ( THE LAST SUPPER AT LAHEIRE Copyright 2012) as for many it was indeed their last supper or dinner at this loved Princeton establishment on Witherspoon Street.  Did you know Albert Einstein enjoyed eating here and had his own table! So many other dignitaries including famous authors, scientists, celebrities and Princeton Professors enjoyed this dining establishment over the years.

New ten foot long painting for the Ivy Inn on Nassau Street to celebrate the opening of their new kitchen and menue.

                             

Visit the Ivy Inn on Nassau Street to see my largest creation. This painting is 3 x 10 feet and features the Eastern end streetscape of Nassau Street.

 Title: "From Tree To Shining Tree." as it is a section that stretches from one tree named street to another. Name given by Geoff Aton.

The new kitchen that opened opened in January 2013 and offers excellent food including the best burgers in town as well as chicken wings and more. Check out the additional patio seating out back.
