This new 2019 painting 16x20 acrylic on canvas was created for Hamilton Jewelers art exhibit celebrating the Art of Time. THIS will be on view for one day on Saturday June 1rst 2019 in front of Hamilton Jewelers 20th anniversary Watch Fair. ARTISTS were asked to create works relating to time. My painting called  "Time for Princeton" features the restored clocks on the 1756 built Nassau Hall at sunset. A favorite time of day for many to relax, unwind and reflect. PRINCETON, NASSAU STREET. Built in 1896, this beautiful building featured in my painting was known as Lower Pyne and designed by Raleigh C. Gildersleeve on the model of sixteenth-century houses in Chester, England. They were planned to provide space for shops at the street level, dormitory rooms for undergraduates in the stories above. In 1950 the dormitory rooms were converted to offices. Now in the lower part has been home to Hamilton Jewelers for many years. A RAINY NIGHT IN PRINCETON by artist Robert Hummel

This painting by artist Robert Hummel created in 2017 features the former restaurant Lahiere's and the current Hamilton Jewelers tudor building on the corner of Nassau street and Witherspoon Street.
Robert is known for his paintings of Princeton and the towns beyond. He has shown at Princeton University, Chez Alice Cafe and Gourmet Bakery on Palmer Square for over 15 years up an through 2019, The Nassau Club of Princeton, Gallery 33 in Hightstown, and many other solo and group exhibits including many local fundraising events for schools and charities. Each winter the University campus is transformed into a fairy tale scene as freshly fallen snow covers its many Gothic buildings and landscaped vistas. 

There is nothing like an evening stroll after a snowfall on campus or around town that puts a warm spot in our hearts from the glow of lamp posts or the warmth from within its many incredible facades.

WINTER IN PRINCETON IS INDEED A MAGICAL TIME OF YEAR.

My painting of Princeton's Chapel after a perfect snowfall is one of several Gothic structures that I am inspired to paint.

About this impressive ornate building at Princeton University.

East Pyne, is home to Princeton scholars engaged in studies of classics, comparative literature and languages.

Originally called Pyne Library, the collegiate Gothic building was constructed in 1897 and was used with Chancellor Green as the University Library until the completion of Firestone Library in 1948. It then housed various administrative offices until 1965, when, with the completion of New South, it assumed its present name and was renovated to accommodate offices and classrooms.
